Dreaming, Dreaming, Dreaming

We get lots of catalogs featuring pet items, as well as being on the email list of many online boutiques. The girls and I see lots of interesting things and we often wish we had a money tree in the back yard so that we could buy all the fun things we see.

I recently caught the girls checking out some new beds. Now I do not deny that we have sort of a bed-fetish around here. We love dog beds and have many more beds than dogs to sleep in each of them.

However, I am a little worried about the high expectations that the girls might have for what Santa could be leaving under the tree this year. Let me show you some that I found circled with pawprints lately....

This is the FURRARI bed, available from Posh Puppy Boutique. Price: $275.

I agree, that is very cute. However, I was more concerned over some beds that Breezy had picked out :

This is the Pucci's Mini Complete Bed Set. It comes with the bed, mattress, and sheet. The rest of the bedding ensemble is sold separately. Price: $720. I think it's nicer than my own bed. Actually, I KNOW so.

But, wait. She had more picked out...

This is a One of a Kind Custom Bed, featuring fine sculptural ironwork and a custom made mattress. Price: $2,800.

Now I think Breezy is just trying to make Bonnie feel bad about her Costco dog bed.

But, the final bed that I saw the girls showing interest in at Posh Puppy was this one:

This is the Le Canapé Place de la Madeleine in Pink. In all my life I have never seen such luxury, some of which I cannot even pronounce. I did notice that somehow the girls had gotten hold of my highlighter pen and had the sentence "The pleasure your pet will have in nestling in the voluptuous of this sofa will fill you with happiness" all highlighted for my benefit.
Price: $4,800. It also comes in purple, red, or blue!

Now you can see my concern. Their expectations are high.

I am sorry to burst your little bubbles, but the Sock Monkey bed just may be the most unique bed you get!

Lazy Dogs

My husband has always said that if he gets a second life, he wants to come back as one of my dogs. Spoiled. Lazy. Pampered. Overabundance of toys. Fed extremely well.

Need I say more?

I have begun to think he might be right about the lazy thing. My girls spend a lot of time lounging around in their numerous beds. Just as children go through phases where they are obsessed with a certain object, my dogs get fixated on certain beds for a while.

Breezy has been totally possessive of the Sock Monkey bed this week. It is ALL HERS and don't come near it. She has done this before and I know she will get over it and go back to letting the girls share with her, but she does like to claim possession of the beds.

She has done this same thing before.

She is my feisty one, that is for sure.
But who can look at that cute face and not be totally taken in???

We All Have Our Addictions

Everyone is addicted to something. Maybe it's chocolate. Maybe it's baseball. Maybe it's 'Dancing With The Stars'.

Maybe it's dog beds......?

Yes, I admit it. My name is Kelli and I am addicted to buying dog beds.

We currently have six dog beds for three little dogs, four of which are in the sewing room. Yes, I am aware that there are homeless dogs in this country that don't even have one bed and that I shameless indulge my girls by having so many.

I don't know what it is, but I seem to have a compulsion for checking out dog beds in whatever store I am visiting that might possibly have some. And when I find one that I like, that is when all the rationalizing comes in. When it's a cute, adorable bed, I become like some women are about shoes. Gotta have it!

Possibly it is because the girls love the beds as much as I do. When I bring a new one into the house, they get so excited and all pile into it to check it out.

Throughout the day they will roll around in the different beds, grunting and snorting and making all kinds of un-lady-like noises as they settle in for a nap. Perfect rationalization for my indulgence: it makes them happy.

All of this brings me to my latest purchase. When I saw a picture of this on Facebook recently, I knew I had to get it. I called our local Walgreen's, they confirmed that they had them, and I was on a mission. Shawn was in the office working on the computer when I said, "Wanna go to Walgreen's with me?"

Shawn is awesome, rarely asks questions, just says, "sure," turns off his computer and we are on our way. I love that man.
On the drive to the store he asked, "What are we getting?" We are on our way to Walgreen's, so I'm sure he's thinking something like bandaids or cough medicine. I am pretty positive a dog bed was the last thing he expected me to say, but he kept a straight face.

But who could resist a Sock Monkey Bed?????
Stormie loves it the most. She lays in the bed and ferociously attacks the ears and head, making great growling noises. Then she looks up at me with such joy on her face, like she's saying "Thanks mom, you're the best. It's a bed AND a toy in one!"
She will share a little bit with Breezy, but only if she's in a real generous mood.
The sock monkey bed resides in the sewing room, right by my feet.
I think we have enough beds now.
Until the next one.
