The girls had quite the new experience yesterday. They met their first baby.

Now Karter isn't just any random baby. He is the grandson of a long-time family friend. He is here visiting from Idaho. Karter is almost 4 months old and he has a little Chihuahua at home, so he was much more used to the girls than they were of him.
The other little side note about Karter: His daddy grew up in Chihuahua, Mexico. So, of course Karter would like Chihuahuas, right? Just had to throw that one in there.
The girls were very intrigued as soon as I had him on my lap. They all jumped up on the couch to check him out. As usual, Shimmer was a little more cautious, but Stormie and Breezy were right there, trying to figure out just what in the world he was.
You could see their little minds going....
"He doesn't smell like a dog, but he has much different smells than humans."
"Do humans come this small..?!?!?"

After a few minutes, all three girls, including Shimmer, decided that they liked little Karter.
Until he started 'talking' at them, making all those adorable baby squeaks and noises. THAT startled them, but not for too long.
In the end, they enjoyed the visit and learned that there is still more in this world for them to see and learn about.
A good lesson for all of us.
